Ross Irvin Dies
Stroke of Paralysis Proves Fatal to Retired Farmer--Funeral Sunday at Bismarck
Ross Irvin died at his home in the east part of town at 6:30 last Friday morning. He had been in ill health for three years suffering from the effects of a slight stroke of paralysis and six weeks ago was stricken with a second stroke, which was the direct cause of death. The funeral was held from the Bismarck Methodist church at ? o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Dr. Wohfarth of Rossville officiated. Burial was in the Neal Roe cemetery.
Mr. Irvin resided in Illinois since shortly after his marriage, until twelve years ago near Bismarck, moving from there to a farm near Mann's Chapel and from there coming to Rossville two years ago.
Ross Irvin was born near McArthur, Vinton county, Ohio, on September 2, 1850, and at the time of his death lacked one day of being 66 years old. On September 15, 1880, he was united in marriage to Margaret Gatten. To this union was born ten children, five sons and five daughters. Three sons preceded him in death. Surviving besides the wife are the seven children: Mrs. Effie Deck, Mrs. Olive Bowlby, Mrs. Ora Shumaker, and Chester, Freddie, Pauline, and Hattie, the latter four at home; also five grandchildren and one brother, James H. Irvin of Hammond, Ind.

Funeral Rites for Mrs. Coake are Held Here
Passes Away Sunday at the Home of Her Daughter in Michigan
Death came to Mrs. Margaret Coake, 72 years of age, and a former resident of Rossville, at the home of her duaghter, Mrs. Hattie Bowlby, Sunday in Lansing, Mich., after a brief illness of complications.
After the death of her husband, Odum Coake, several years ago, she made her home with her children at different places and three years ago she went to Lansing to live with Mrs. Bowlby. She is survived by two sons and five daughters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the United Brethern Church in this city with Rev. John Leth, pastor of the Nazarene church officiating. Burial was in the Rossville cemetery. The body was brought here via ambulance from Lansing.
Mrs. Coake was well-known, in this city, having a host of friends who join in extending sympathies to the chilren. (22 Dec 1935)

There is a John Pewthers who lives with wife and 3 teenage daughters in the same township. By the 1850 census, Elizabeth Pewthers is married to Ross Alison and is living in Milton, Jackson, Ohio.

William Bowlby's wife Hattie was the sister of his brother Howards wife Olive. In other words, 2 brothers married 2 sisters. So this made the children of Howard and Olive, double cousins with Hattie and Bills daughter Margaret.
Bill worked with his brother Howard hanging wallpaper. He also only had 1 arm, due to an accident.
Bill was also 25 years older than wife Hattie.
